A Brief History about Rod Lawrence
Rod Lawrence is a professional naturalist and ecologist who has spent most of his life studying forests in Britain and throughout the world. His specialty is in understanding the way plant and animals interact to provide an environment suitable for human survival.
Rod is married to Sue who is a primary school teacher but also a keen naturalist and they work together on may of the projects.
Rod works as a freelance lecturer presenting illustrated talks to various organizations on many aspects of wildlife.
He also runs courses (two hours per week) on a variety of wildlife subjects. Theses are suitable for all abilities and are run at colleges throughout Devon.
Rod is a wildlife writer and broadcaster. At present he is preparing the second edition to his book on the wildlife of the Exe Valley.
Most of his time is taken up with running his company "Faraway Wildlife", through which he organizes and leads local wildlife and birding walks.
Through this he also organizes Wildlife and Birding holidays within Britain and also Wildlife tours throughout the World.
Rod also works with Stuart Line Cruises based in Exmouth. With them he gets to indulge in one of his favorite occupations which is providing commentary on the birds and wildlife of the Exe Estuary and the South Devon Coast.
Between March and November he provide commentary on 3hr Bird Watching Cruises the stars of which are the Avocets, Brent Geese and the thousands of waders and wildfowl resident.
In the Summer Months he provide commentary on all day cruise along the South Devon Coast and the UK's only Natural World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast. The focus here being the dolphins, peregrines and spectacular cliffs.

Summer Cruises
Sailing along the Jurassic Coast, the UK's only Natural World Heritage Site, these all day cruises offer the only way to view the spectacular coastline and its resident wildlife. Rod provides a full commentary for this unique cruise. During the sailing there will be the chance to view the kittywake colony, the nest site of Perigune Falcons and, if your really lucky, dolphins.
